Review Of Aliens vs. Predator Requiem

alien_vs_predatorThb.jpg

If there is one thing people hate the most is losing control of a situation. The Predators on the other hand lost all control when one of their own is infected. This is a continuation from the first movie and based on the sequel which is coming out this month. This time around it is not about the right of passage of young predators becoming full on hunters. It is time to turn off the cloaking and get ready for this face hugging review.

Imagine yourself as a person walking around in the middle of the night and you look up at the stars. Soon enough it appears to be a comet falling down to earth, but closer examination it seems to be a ship exploding across the skies and than crash landing in the field. With sakes of a plot you walk to the wreckage to further inspect what happened and that’s when all hell breaks lose. Face huggers escape the crashed ship and you know what comes after that. So after the dramatic cut scene of a human getting a make out session with a face hugger, our hero at least we hope he is our hero comes in to find out what went wrong.

Now that you have control of the predator it would be wise to test out some of the things you have at your disposal. As some of you know the certain abilities of different thermal sights Heat, Electronic and Alien sighting. As for weapons you have your brute strength, claw weapon and of course the famous shoulder canon. The left and right triggers are used for your camera which is a good feature to have and also is your lock on when pressed at the same time. The face buttons deal with your zoom, melee attack, and action button also the shoulder cannon fire. The d-pad is your thermal views which you cycle through by using the up or down buttons, left shuts it down and the right turns on your cloaking.

As you start off you start learning about your abilities with a mini tutorial. The first obstacle is learning how to use the shoulder buttons for your camera and than learning to jump long games with your agility. You are also given the task to climb up trees and break through certain walls that have markers on them. Another important factor is your honor through the game which is very important because apparently Predators do not kill the innocent. If you kill without a proper reason or threat than the council will be notified and you will lose your honor buddy! Now the big deal is you being an intergalactic cleaner. Basically your crew made a mistake and aliens are running loose on earth making more of their own kind, so it is your task to sweep the area of predator/alien contact and dispose of it. However you must first find the crashed ship and find out what went wrong and why your people couldn't handle it!

The graphics in the game are okay nothing too impressive, especially since the thermal sighting hurts the eyes more than helping you see things. The controls are not that fast in response especially when you have to take the time to zoom in on an enemy and than make sure you lock on to them so you can hope to hit them with your shoulder cannon. To be honest you are better off having more of a challenge if you let the alien jump on you so you can counter attack it off your body. There is no real challenge behind them game except the fact of the annoying puzzles of going to A, but first you have to shut down B and than after going to A you have to turn back on B so you can go to C. Another horrible note is when everything looks the same with the background image so you could miss something if you were really trying to look without dealing with your other visions.

You do have multiplayer and weapon upgrades at your disposal, but with other multiplayer titles out there you will be lucky to find anybody playing this game.

Later on in the story the plot thickens when you have to deal with military officials and get some of your stuff upgraded, however you will stop caring after a while when you realize that you are some this is all your kind fault and you have to clean up traces of it being your fault lol. Being a Predator fan I am disappointed with the genre lately, even though this game is not as bad as Concrete Jungle Predator based in the 60's. I have to say this is pretty bad for a movie title game. I am giving Aliens vs. Predator Requiem 2 face huggers out of 5. I am going to run because I see something in the distance and a red triangle beam is aim for my head, Uh Oh see you later gamers!

Genre: Action
Developer: Rebellion
Publisher: Sierra
Pros: Experience the predator first hand and using the special abilities.
Cons: Controls are too slow, different visions hurt the eyes, and it would of been better if they stood away from the movie and chose another story from the predator series.
PSPworld Rating: 2 face huggers out of 5.
