The launch of the Sony PS Vita is close enough that we can now start to focus on some of the launch games that are gearing up to steal the show on February 22, 2012. Today, we start the launch game focus by taking a look at ModNation Racers: Road Trip.

ModNation Racers made its debut on the Sony PlayStation 3 last year and was a massive success.

The game is essentially Sony's answer to Mario Kart, but the way in which it incorporates the online community sets itself apart from the competition in many ways.

The game allowed users to create virtually any racer that they wanted. You could also log on and search for any user-created character, finding just about anyone you desired. If you wanted a character that looked like Batman, there he was. Even if you wanted some abstract character, say Buff Bagwell for you old WCW fans, someone had already made him.

The online community was tremendous for ModNation Racers, and that is expected to continue on the Sony PS Vita version.

ModNation Racers: Road Trip is going to take advantage of the already created user tracks as you will be able to race on hundreds of thousands of courses whenever you please.

On top of that, the Sony PS Vita version is going to feature a brand new Career mode, new weapon classes, and more.

The new weapon classes should spice things up quite a bit as they include Fire, Ice, and Earth weapon classes.

The PS Vita hardware is going to be taken advantage of here as well as you will be able to use the touch controls to easily create tracks, developers claim a track can be created in less than a minute.

ModNation Racers:Road Trip is still a bit of a ways off, but early previews of the game have shown that it is shaping up to be one of the better PS Vita launch titles.
