Poker on Android Phones

Smartphones powered by Android are becoming more and more popular each and every month, but poker fans should proceed with caution when buying one, especially if they're planning on using it to play poker for real money. While the Android OS is more open and freer from restrictions than Apple's iPhone, it's still difficult to play all your favorite online poker sites.

There are numerous apps for Android phones that let you play poker for play
chips, but none at the moment that let you play for real money, Update: except Rush Poker by Full Tilt, which is in a beta stage. Since there's no central
authority such as Apple to disapprove any gambling related app for Android phones, it's not clear exactly why there's only limited support for real money poker apps available. Whether or not it's just a matter of time before real money Texas Hold Em online apps are developed for Android remains to be seen.

Some of the poker apps available pit you against computer opponents but others offer a similar experience to playing online, pitting you against opponents from around the world in a multi-player poker network setting. While it won't be quite as exciting as playing for real money, it's not a terrible option, and it's still the same poker game that fans love to play.

Android supports Flash, so it is possible to access browser-based applications that online sites offer, but the reality is that very few of the major poker sites offer Flash-based no-download clients. Security issues can be a real risk for no-download clients, so many or the biggest sites simply avoid the potential issue and only offer traditional poker clients
that much be downloaded.

If you're determined to play online poker for real money on your Android phone, your best option is to use a remote desktop service that lets you control your home desktop or laptop with your phone. This isn't a perfect solution (and it can be slow and cumbersome at times to use) but it does work, and will get you online and dragging pots your way.

You might also like to keep an eye on Switch poker who have released iPhone real money poker app, rumors have it that it will be making it way to Android users soon.
