Pizza Hut Delivers to Phantasy Star Portable

One of the best product placement advertisements ever was in the 1993 film Demolition Man. After being re-animated following hundreds of years of cryogenic prison time, hero Sylvester Stallone is taken to a Taco Bell restaurant. The audience's surprise at finding out Taco Bell still exists in the 23rd century is topped only by the discovery that in the future, this fast food place is a real high-end joint.

Pizza Hut Japan is pulling a similar stunt by opening its first-ever virtual restaurant in the Gurhal Galaxy in Phantasy Star Portable 2 (see screenshots below). At least three items can be purchased from the store, including a cup of coffee, a Cheese+Cheese pizza, and a Seafood Pizza. Presumably, they have much different tastes in Japan.

Players will also be able to collect adorable living cheese mascots for use as room decorations. But more importantly, they can also arm themselves with a Pizza box shield and a pizza pan weapon.

What do you think about this news? Does it impact the gaming experience in a positive or negative way? Personally, I would be annoyed in more fast-food brands start showing up in my favorite RPG universes.
