Is the PSP Gaming Phone Ever Going to be Released?

This month Engadget released a video that shows the PSP phone, also known as the Sony Ericsson Zeus Z1 (scheduled for release in March 2011) running Qualcomm's Neocore benchmark app. According to what we see in the video, the PSP phone is underwhelming compared to the new Google Nexus S.

Sony needs to up the ante to compete in the market, and if they tweak their existing model, they could become contenders in the soon to heat up smartphone gaming world.

The PSP phone could be find a huge market with online casino players, because as well as being a fully functional gaming platform, its an Android smartphone, meaning players can sign up with the growing number of Android casinos to play real-money casino games. This innovation would be a benchmark move for the online gaming industry as the mobile gambling public gains interest, and starts to look for mobile products that offer them the best software. Casino.org recently did a survey, the results of which suggested that a high percentage of online gamblers would take their game mobile if the technology made it enjoyable.

Of course, all this is hopeful speculation. As of yet, Sony hasn't officially announced anything, and they are still heavily testing prototypes. Sony is one of the world's most innovative companies, and the prospects of them entering the smart gaming phone universe is a tantalizing one.
