Brandish RPG Announced For PSP

Japanese developer Falcom has announced plans to resurrect one of its beloved RPG franchises on the PSP. The Brandish series began life on microcomputer, before moving to the Super Famicom and later the PC Engine. Altogether, there were 4 games released in the Brandish series in Japan. In America, only the first title in the series was released to moderate success on the SNES. The newly announced PSP project is called Brandish: The Dark Revenant. It is an overhead-view action RPG much in the same vein as YS VI: Ark of Napishtim.

The original Brandish follows the travails of a sword fighter named Varik and a sorceress named Alexis who must battle an ancient and evil king in a subterranean city.

A North American release has not yet been confirmed, however Siliconera reports that Atlus may sign on to distribute a Western localization of the title. We can hardly wait to see more about this intriguing game. In the meantime, here are a few screenshots detailing the game's 3D world and character artwork.
