Sony Xperia Play Specifications

Now that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play has been officially announced via a high-profile superbowl ad, we are itching to know more about this new smartphone gaming hybrid. Luckily for us, specifications have already leaked ahead of the device's official unveiling which is scheduled for the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 13th. Initial benchmark tests were disappointing, but it looks like the Xperia Play will pack an impressive list of features, including touch screen input, dial analog controls and HD multimedia capabilities. The main question we would like to have answered is whether the Xperia Play will be backwards compatible with the existing PSP game library. Because it uses an Android platform and is quite different from the existing PSP hardware, we believe it is unlikely that our old PSP games will work on this new device. We will provide more details as soon as we get them.
