shure-gaming-120.jpgShure has announced their new line of E Series Sound Isolating Earphones: Gaming Edition. The new line consists of the E2g, the E3g, and the top-of-the-line E4g. All the earphones feature a Personal Fit Kit which includes a pair of disposable foam sleeves and triple-flange sleeves, three sizes of flex sleeves, and three sizes of ultra-soft flex sleeves to ensure a personalized, comfortable fit, and maximum sound isolation. Both the E3g and the E4g feature high-definition speakers, and the E4gs also feature Tuned Port technology — creating ultra-wide frequency audio and extended bass for better reproduction of gaming soundtracks. The Shure E2g, E3g, and E4g will be available starting in mid-October and will sell for $99.00, $179.00, and $299.00, respectively.

“While the gaming industry has progressed rapidly in the creation of exceptional soundtracks, much of the experience is lost on consumers who lack high quality accessories to hear the phenomenal audio detail,” said Steve Doering, portfolio director for Shure’s Personal Audio Business Unit. “Looking at our success attaching to the iPod, equipping gamers with the right audio accessories seemed like a natural evolution for us. There’s no other company better suited to answer gamers’ calls for impeccable sound performance and detail.”

A recent report by JupiterResearch states that accessories for the portable gaming market represent an “important source of high-margin revenue.” The research firm projects that in 2005, for every $100 spent on gaming hardware, $75 will be spent on accessories (JupiterResearch, “US Game Accessories Forecast, 2005 to 2010,” July 8, 2005).
