Misticaudio-Otg-Case-120A lot of the leather PSP cases we’ve reviewed have been similar, but this is the first to supposedly be from the same OEM as another. The MisticAudio OTG PSP Case has some similarities and some differences with its French brethren, the Noreve Tradition Leather Case, but the fact remains that they are in many ways the same case.

The MisticAudio’s leather is, as we expected, of similar quality to that of the Noreve case. The OTG also features a very secure partial magnetic closure, another point featured with the Noreve. The interior of the case is lined with a soft velvet, just like the Noreve. Beginning to see a pattern here? “The design provides storage for two Memory Stick Duos and an extra UMD, although the Memory Stick storage is above the screen, which leaves it susceptible to scratching,” was true for the Noreve case and is also true for the OTG.

The PSP slides into the OTG’s leather holster from the top, and once secured all the ports on the PSP should be accessible, but unfortunately the elastic/leather sides were cut to far down on the left side, making Memory Stick access basically impossible while the PSP was still holstered. Access to the UMD door is made possible by a snap-down mechanism very similar to the Noreve case, and snapping down the holster also offers better access to the spare UMD storage.

All of the comfort and protection of the Noreve case is present in the MisticAudio design, so the “big new thing” about this case is its extra leather snap-open flap that serves as a support, allowing the case to be used as a stand. Although this seems quite simple, it is very effective in it’s utility — so if you watch a lot of UMD movies, this case may be an excellent choice.

Overall, the MisticAudio OTG PSP Case basically has the same pros and cons as the Noreve Tradition, but sells for less and has an added feature. This case provides ample protection for the back, front, and sides of the PSP (while closed), but unfortunately it shares the same problems with the placement of the Memory Stick Duo storage — it’s simply not a good idea to put your screen at risk like that. One thing it doesn’t share is the Noreve’s price — and that should make the all the difference in the world.

Pros: Good looking, good protection for the PSP from a PDA-style leather case, great fit on the PSP.

Cons: Past lessons of not putting Memory Stick Card Duo storage above the screen without ample room have gone unheeded again.
