Logitech PlayGear Visor

Sometimes the most simple accessories can be the most invaluable. We have reviewed several simple accessories so far here at PSPworld, and they have been a mixed bag — some really good, some a little too simple for their own good. The PlayGear Visor from Logitech definitely falls into that “simple” category, so we were interested to see what level of ingenuity and design had been packed into this small piece of clear polycarbonate.

First things first, the PlayGear Visor is a clear piece of polycarbonate that snaps onto the PSP to help protect its screen. It keeps itself secured to the PSP by using two nubs that go into the accessory screw holes on either side of the USB port and a couple of padded “feet” that wrap around and hug the backside of the PSP. This process of attaching/unattaching the Visor is incredibly easy and intuitive.

As for protection, the PlayGear Visor does pretty well. It sits quite snugly on the screen, keeping dust and small particles off the screen. It protects the screen from being scratched and/or cracked by heavier objects fairly well as well. The design of the Visor makes sure that no port or button is blocked, a great feature that really shows there was thought and effort put forth in the creation of this accessory, something that is greatly appreciated by a consumer buying a product this simple.

Overall, the PlayGear Visor is an excellent little accessory that does a good job of protecting the PSP’s screen — although we still recommend using a good thin screen protector to complement the Visor. The simplicity of the design belies the real thought and effort that made a product this simple this good. Although it is a bit pricey for what it is, we still highly recommend the Visor to any PSP owner looking for some extra protection for their screens.
