Kroo-Silicone-120As the market for PSP accessories grows, more and more manufacturers are coming out with silicone cases — and Kroo is joining the fray with their IIskin Pouch. Available in several colors — smoke, white, light green, navy blue, light purple, and hot pink — Kroo is once again targeting the fashion — and wallet — conscious, as it did with the Deluxe Leather Case (PSPworld Rating C-).

Unlike the Deluxe Leather Case, the pouch has no pieces to lose — it is a single piece of silicone. The silicone is of good quality, and it feels smooth against your hands — not quite as smooth as the JavoSkin from JavoEdge (PSPworld Rating A), but still nice. In fact, the overall design of the case is very similar to the JavoSkin — and that’s a good thing.

The fit of the case on the PSP is excellent, and all the holes — for the AC port, power switch, wi-fi switch, UMD door, UMD button, IR port, and headphones — line up right where they are supposed to be. Surprisingly, there isn’t a hole for the Memory Stick door, but for those with higher capacity cards it shouldn’t be a big issue.

There is plenty of room for movement of the analog nub, and the feel of the buttons isn’t compromised despite the fact that silicone surrounds them. Unfortunately the small row of buttons on the bottom of the machine don’t get such good treatment. Their markings are completely blocked from view, and they small labels in the silicone above them aren’t easily readable.

As for protection, the case is about average for silicone cases. The PSP is fairly well protected during drops, but the opening for the screen and UMD door leave those areas open to the elements. That said, we feel the case strikes a nice balance between protection and usability.

Overall, the Kroo PSP IIskin is a very good silicone PSP case, especially for the price. It provides decent protection, and doesn’t seem quite as prone to picking up dust and dirt as some of the other silicone cases we’ve reviewed. Unfortunately the small button row on the front of the PSP isn’t quite as usable as it should be, but it’s not a deal-breaker. We definitely recommend the IIskin to any bargain-conscious PSP looking for a silicone case.
Kroo-Silicone-550-3

Pros: Decent protection, low price, PSP very usable in the case.

Cons: Small row of buttons on the front of the PSP harder to recognize and use while in the case.
