PSP iTrip, iFM, SmartShare

Griffin Technology's announcement of its new line of PSP gear didn't catch us too off guard. Paul Griffin, the company's CEO, had revealed product plans and renderings exclusively to PSP World way back in November. Since then, we've been anxiously awaiting the finished products. Our wait is over today. The FedEx man just dropped off all three of Griffin's new PSP add-ons — the iTrip PSP, iFM PSP and SmartShare PSP. Below are our initial hands-on photos. iTrip for PSP Like it's iPod-compatible namesake, the iTrip for PSP is a FM transmitter for sending audio over the radio wave to external speakers, such as in the car or a home stereo. This model requires two AA batteries, and operates on frequencies between 88.1 and 107.9. Since the internal speakers of the PSP are pretty much useless for sharing content such as music and movies, the iTrip for PSP makes good sense in that it allows you to wirelessly send that audio to a speaker setup more conducive to multiple listeners.

Griffin's iFM brings FM radio tuning to the PSP in a tiny package that also doubles as a remote control for the PSP. iFM can tune in any station between 87.9 and 107.9, and with its fine reception we found the sound quality of local stations to be on par with many standalone FM radios we've heard. As a pass-through device, iFM allows you to use your favorite pair of earbuds or headphones for listening, which only improves the experience.
