Intec Leather Case for PSP
All of the PSP leather cases we have reviewed up until this point have had the same basic design — the cases were meant to be carried by hand or by a wrist strap connected to the PSP, and had a PDA-style design. By PDA-style we mean it opens from the top, with a flap connecting the top to the bottom when closed. This design usually accommodates access to most of the side ports, and occasionally the UMD door. While these designs normally allow for fairly natural play of the PSP while still attached, they rarely protect the sides, and are somewhat awkward to carry. The Leather Case for PSP is the first case we’ve seen to break these precedents — and that’s a good thing.

The outer skin of the Intec Leather Case is, well, leather, apart from the sides, which are made from a stretchy material. The inside of the case is a velvety material that does well to keep scratches off the PSP. The PSP slides into the case from the top, with a flap covering the opening when closed. There are small gaps near the top and bottom of the case, as the side material is not connected to the leather bottom or top leather flap. While this may seem like a weakness, it actually allows for access to both the PSP’s power and headphone ports whilst still in the case. As for transporting the case, it can be carried by hand, in a pocket or small bag, by using the belt clip, or by the rather long leather strap that is included.

NOTE: When we say “rather long” we mean “if you aren’t in Europe you WILL get asked whether the case is a purse.” It’s not a bad way to carry your PSP by any means, but if you are a man and aren’t comfortable with carrying anything but a backpack over your shoulder, we don’t recommend using the strap.

As far as protection is concerned, the Intec Leather Case does a very impressive job. Although there are small openings on the sides near the top and bottom, the case really does protect the PSP well. the back and front pieces extend out beyond the bottom and sides, and the top flap extends well above the PSP, making the case a very strong performer when dropped. The leather on the front and back is a little thin for our taste, but it manages to give the case a very slim profile, one fitting of the system within.

Overall, the Intec Leather Case for PSP is a very good case, and an interesting alternative to the PDA-style leather PSP cases we’ve seen. We consider the small openings near the top and bottom an even trade-off with the ability to charge the PSP or listen to music off it while still in the case. Yes, the strap is rather long, but it serves as one of the most practical and comfortable ways to haul your PSP around.
Pros: Easy to carry, good protection, affordable.
Cons: Exposed areas near the top and bottom of the case, strap is a little long.
