Firmware 5.01 Coming, Fixes Memory Card Issue

Firmware 5.0 landed with a triumphant splash last week, and Sony is already planning an update to v5.01. The planned update is really no big deal, unless you happen to be one of those unlucky packrats who uses a 16GB memory stick to save absolutely everything. The fix will remove a bug that affected certain users while trying to download media from the PSP Store. On larger-sized memory sticks, the PSP would sometimes display a message warning of insufficient space, even when there was oh-so-much. With the price of mega-sized Pro Duo memory cards so ridiculously low these days, we imagine this problem effects quite a few people. Here is the official word from Sony's corporate blog:

"PSP firmware update 5.00 added direct access to the PlayStation Store, and we've since found an issue related to larger-capacity Memory Stick PRO Duos, which we'll be addressing with a new update (5.01). When downloading content from the Store to a PSP with an 8 GB or 16 GB Memory Stick Duo media inserted, you may see a message indicating that the media does not have enough free space, even when sufficient space exists. Update 5.01 resolves this issue and will be coming soon"
