Konami today announced that Metal Gear Ac!d 2 is under development for the PSP. Created by Kojima Productions and headed by game creator Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Ac!d 2 incorporates a completely new graphics engine which provides innovative on-screen imagery. To help first-time players familiarize themselves with the world of Metal Gear Ac!d, a new tutorial stage has been added, including a hands-on introduction to the card system and other gameplay elements. The game’s interface has also been refined as players can now build strategies, choose more card types than the previous installment and engage in more strategic, tactical battles.
”Metal Gear Ac!d 2 is a new addition in the Metal Gear series created for the PSPTM handheld entertainment system. The series will continue to progress as a strategy game,” said Hideo Kojima, corporate officer of Konami Corporation. “Metal Gear Ac!d is different from the established Metal Gear Solid series, and features cool, innovative playing elements that are the hallmark of handheld gaming systems. We plan to continue evolving the series, so I hope everyone - from those experiencing the world of Metal Gear for the first time, to fans who’ve come to love our series - will try out Metal Gear Ac!d 2 !”

Konami today announced their official lineup for E3, which includes four upcoming PSP titles. Coded Arms is a first-person shooter that places the gamer in the role of a computer hacker who infiltrates an abandoned virtual reality system. The game will feature six different levels and a multiplayer mode. Expect Coded Arms to ship sometime this summer. Death, Jr. is an action game starring the son of the Grim Reaper that features both both first and third-person gameplay. Look for this title to be released this upcoming summer as well. Frogger: Helmet Chaos is the first 3D handheld game for the Frogger franchise with 3D environments and traditional 2D gameplay. Featuring more than 30 levels of play and the ability to unlock the original 1981 Frogger game, expect this one to hop into stores this fall. Ys: The Ark of Napishtim is an action RPG featuring unique characters, unlockable mini-games, and a jukebox mode. Ys will also be available this fall.

Rockstar Games today announced the next chapter in the Grand Theft Auto series, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, which will be available exclusively for the Sony PSP when it's released this fall. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories is an entirely new game in the Grand Theft Auto series and features an original storyline and all new missions. The story takes place in Liberty City, featuring the interactive, open environment, voice talent and diverse music that have become trademarks of the series.
"Returning to Liberty City and bringing it to life on a handheld system has been both nostalgic and extremely inspiring for us," said Sam Houser, President of Rockstar Games. "The incredible PSP system technology allows for fans of the previous Grand Theft Auto titles to revisit Liberty City and see it from an amazing new perspective with an entirely original storyline. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories will be a bold new experience that has never before been possible on a portable platform."

Activision and paintball professional Greg Hastings announced today that Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball MAX'D will be coming to the PSP this fall. The title builds on the success of Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball, which was released last year for Xbox. MAX'D will feature new breakout play calling, both co-op and head-to-head multiplayer, and more. The soundtrack for the game will feature such names as Chester Bennington of rock group Linkin Park and DJ Lethal of Limp Bizkit. No exact release date or pricing was available.
Electronic Arts today announced the release of MVP Baseball for the PSP. The $49.99 game is packed with game modes for single player, turn-based Party Play, or wireless head-to-head multiplayer formats. Players can show off their skills in the Home Run Showdown, explore and unlock content and rock out to tunes using the EA Pocket Trax.

Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix takes the best of Tony Hawk's Underground 2 and adds four new city-levels -- Las Vegas, Atlanta, Kyoto and Santa Cruz -- that feature original goals, level changing events and unlockable characters. The first THUG for PSP, players can join Tony Hawk or Bam Margera on a World Destruction Tour where they nail tricks and pull off pranks in 13 single-player levels, or face off against up to three friends in 10 wireless multiplayer games. Players can also import their picture onto the PSP via any memory stick and map their face to create their own personalized game character.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour is the franchises first appeance on the PSP. In Tiger, players create their own golfer and develop their skills in order to move up through the ranks and challenge both current and legendary tour players. The game features multiplayer play as well, including Playoff Round in Party Play mode and the Bingo Bango Bongo game type in Head-to-Head mode, both of which are unique to the PSP.

Agetec today unveiled its E3 lineup which included PoPoLoCrois and Armored Core: Formula Front for the PSP. PoPoLoCrois features brand-new sequences from the animated TV series spread out through cell-shaded 2D graphic adventures. Armored Core: Formula Front brings the Armored Core series to the PSP. Formula Front contains added features not found in its Japanese release, and features artificial intelligence designing and a wireless head-to-head mode. Pricing and release dates were not announced.
2K Sports announced its E3 lineup today, which included World Poker Tour 2K6 for PSP. In World Poker Tour, players face off against real WPT players, in real WPT venues. Features include custom poker game creation through the poker editor, an online mode that for play in leagues with your friends, and a presentation modeled after the popular WPT broadcasts, featuring commentary by real WPT announcers. No pricing or release information for World Poker Tour 2K6 was announced.
Namco today announced their game lineup for E3, including four titles for the PSP. Dead To Rights: Reckoning, Namco Museum Battle Collection, Bounty Hounds, and Payout Poker and Casino will all be shown at E3.
The previously announced Dead To Rights lets players navigate the corrupt underworld of Grant City new weapons, new lethal disarms and your trusty dog Shadow. Dead To Rights: Reckoning will be available this summer. Namco Museum Battle Collection brings players many arcade franchises – with 10 exclusive games for the U.S. version, and features Game Sharing Mode that allows players to share the arcade games wirelessly with other PSPs. Namco Museum Battle Collection will be available this summer. Bounty Hounds (working title) puts players in control of a gang of mercenaries battling a network of aliens for control of the world. The game will be available this summer. Payout Poker and Casino will take players on a world tour of exclusive casinos, featuring games such as Texas Hold'em, Blackjack, Baccarat, Slots, Roulette along the way. Payout Poker and Casino will be released this fall. No pricing information was given.
Vivendi Universal Games today announced their lineup of games for E3. Among the titles were two upcoming PSP games, 50 Cent: Bulletproof and Crash Tag Team Racing. In Bulletproof, 50 Cent teams up with his G Unit crew to take on the most dangerous crime families in New York. The game will feature exclusive tracks from 50 as well as prior hits. 50 Cent: Bulletproof is scheduled for release this Fall. Crash Bandicoot stars in Crash Tag Team Racing as players try to race through Dr. Neo Cortex's hazardous tracks. The game will feature on-the-fly car fusing as well as off-the-track challenges and missions. Crash Tag Team Racing is scheduled for release this Fall. No pricing information was given for either game.
Sony announced today that NBA '06 will be coming to the PSP this fall. NBA '06 is built from the ground up and features "Showtime Gameplay" which provides players the opportunity to acheive balance between team versus individual skills, performance and goals. Also new for NBA '06 will be "NBA Life: Volume 1," which gives players the opportunity to go through an entire season with all of the emotional ups and downs, team politics and off-court activities, such as trades, press conferences and endorsement deals that every up and coming NBA player must handle. Each player can take a different path to progress through the league, setting up different ways for gamers to develop a player and experience the real NBA life. On the cover will be third-year big man, from the Pheonix Suns, Amare Stoudemire.

Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) today announced that it will distribute two new titles for the PSP — GripShift and FRANTIX. Both games are scheduled to be available this Fall.
"GripShift is one of the first video games for the PSP system to combine high-flying stunt driving and unique puzzle-solving action in an all-out, pedal-to-the-metal racing experience. Players will race as one of six unique characters in supped-up, customizable vehicles as they stunt their way through insane twisting levels while collecting power-ups, avoiding traps, beating the clock and challenging friends. Featuring more than 100 levels of puzzle-like challenges in fun, vibrant environments, and additional bonus games, players can race solo or with up to three other players via the PSP system's built-in wireless feature."
"FRANTIX is one of the first character-based 3D puzzle-solving adventures for the PSP system. Developed by Killer Game, FRANTIX offers frenzied puzzle-solving action, beautiful 3D graphics, more than 150 challenging levels for players to enjoy, power pick-ups, and a diverse array of monsters and unique obstacles. The game features quick-paced action, surreal environments and challenging levels with deadly traps and dangerous hazards for an extremely fun and captivating gameplay experience."
Sega this week revealed that the next installment of their Football Manager soccer management franchise, typically a PC/Mac only affair, will be offered on the PSP as well. Football Manager 2006 will offer players a choice of leagues from more than five countries, and a transfer system allowing for the singing, borrowing, selling, and loaning out of players from their 30 man squad.
“The opportunity to work on PSP was simply too good to pass up,” says Sports Interactive MD Miles Jacobson. "As one of the lucky few to have played with some of the new features, I really can't wait to play the finished game,” says Jacobson. “We're delighted with the support that we've had from our community for FM2005, and the next iteration will raise the quality bar even higher.”
Football Manager 2006 will be available on the PSP this Winter.
Majesco this week confirmed that the company is working on a PSP version of Lionhead Studio's god simulation game, Black & White, titled Black & White Creatures. The game puts players in the role of a supreme being, able to shape lands and civilizations. The player also must manage a large creature that people may either worship or fear, and this will depend on how the player trains the creature. Multiple gameplay modes are expected, including Creature Quest and Creature Pen, as well as a wireless-enabled mode called Creature Battle. Black and White Creatures should ship in the first quarter of 2006.
THQ today announced their lineup for E3, including the forthcoming SpongeBob SquarePants: The Yellow Avenger for PSP. The games marks the first appearance of the SpongeBob franchise on the PSP. SpongeBob SquarePants: The Yellow Avenger will be released for the PSP this fall. No other pricing or details were given.
EA today announced its lineup of games for the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The lineup includes seven PSP titles, several of which had been announced previously. Madden NFL 06 is the only title which hadn't been previously announced or posted on Amazon, but new details for The Godfather were also announced, along with expected release dates for the rest of the titles.
"What EA is bringing to E3 this year is a culmination of years of innovation, creativity and dedication to making games that consumers want to play," said Don Mattrick, EA's President of worldwide studios. "The games we have in development across platforms are unprecedented, especially when complimented by our next generation offering -- EA's line-up truly is a gamer's dream come true."

Midway has announced that it's bringing three of its most popular franchises — Mortal Kombat, NBA Ballers, and Midway Arcade Treasures — to the PSP.
Mortal Kombat: Deception looks to be "almost identical to its console brothers, with online play, Konquest and Puzzle Kombat modes, interactive backgrounds, and more than one fatality for each fighter."
NBA Ballers for PSP will be similar to the console game, with "the same focus on player cribs and lifestyle features, along with the return of the one-on-one gameplay that made the console game work so well."
Midway Arcade Treasures will include several older games including: Spy Hunter, Sinistar, Defender, Paperboy, 720, Klax, Joust, Marble Madness, Toobin', Rampage, Gauntlet, Rampart, Wizard of Wor, Xybots, Championship Sprint, Arch Rivals, Cyberball 2072, Xenophobe, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Mortal Kombat 3.
Sega confirmed today that development is underway on Virtua Tennis World Tour for the PSP. The game will be designed specifically for the PSP, and is expected to feature the long list of international players the series is known for.
“Virtua Tennis on PSP successfully combines the legendary gameplay of the Virtua Tennis range with great new features designed for the gamer on the go,” said Matt Woodley, Creative Director of SEGA. “Add to that a roster of licensed players and the game looking gorgeous on the PSP’s amazing screen and you’ve got what I believe is a must-have title.”

EA announced yesterday that NBA Live 2006 will be coming to the PSP later this year. NBA Live 2006, the first NBA Live for the PSP, features enhancements in gameplay and player graphics from previous years. Gracing the cover of his first NBA Live will be second-year player Dwayne Wade from the Miami Heat.
"This is quite an honor to be named cover athlete of NBA LIVE in just my second year as a professional," Wade said. "When you look back at some of the great players who have had this opportunity, it's exciting to be a part of the EA SPORTS family and contribute to a game I've been playing for more than 10 years."
