PSP sales 'solid, not spectacular'

One week after the PSP was launched in the United States, American Technology Research found that only 50 of 150 stores surveyed nationally in the last two days were sold out. Another 15 stores had three or fewer units left.

Analyst P.J. McNealy said gaming retailers (such as GameStop and EB Games) have already sold through two waves of hardware, but "big-box" retailers like Target and Wal-Mart got more units than expected and still have inventory remaining.

"The PlayStation Portable (PSP) has been solid but not spectacular. We believe that the PSP launch, while not the blow-out event expected, will be considered successful as retailers continue to sell through existing inventory levels," McNealy said in a note.

david: Stupid americans, All ways getting more than they can chew, what about us in Australia, not to mention the european nations, Are we that less valued by sony? I thing they should have made enough for a global release which would have looked so much more impressive, but no they staggered it all over the place. Iam dieing to get my hands on one but not gonna pay some ridiculously over priced import. I want it sony, dont you understand that, unlike me so other people in your target market will get sick of waiting and get a shoddy DS, do ya want that??? Anyway, every one who sees these pages are gonna desperatly want one. Thats my few bobs in.
